4:00am | Medlow Bath - Railway Parade bus stop/turnaround, near RFS. Katoomba bus will stop here enroute to the Start Line. | Free for runners, limited paid bus tickets will be available for spectators to book - more info to follow |
4:00am | Blackheath - #1 Govetts Leap Rd, near corner of Boreas St (opposite Parklands Lodge), #2 Great Western Highway in front of New Ivanhoe Hotel, #3 Valley View Road next to Blackheath Golf Club entrance, #4 Grand Canyon Carpark Start Line | Free for runners, limited paid bus tickets will be available for spectators to book - more info to follow |
Please note that unfortunately there is no parking near to the start line. As Evans Lookout Road is very narrow, any parking along the side of the road in the final few kms before Grand Canyon Carpark would prevent two way buses from getting past. Whilst some people may have been happy to walk a few kms, the roads are dark, have no verge in places, and dangerous due to buses going past.
Whilst it would have been great to have a drop off/ turnaround point somewhere like Neates Glen, the space is fine for a few cars to turn, not hundreds of cars when buses are also needing to get past.
For these reasons it would be appreciated if you can catch the bus. You could park near one of the Blackheath bus stops and nominate your bus pick up location as 'Blackheath'.
Due to there being no parking at the start and Perrys Lookdown, along with limited parking at Govetts Leap, there will be a limited paid shuttle bus service available to take spectators to the Grand Canyon Carpark Start line, Govetts Leap Checkpoint, Perrys Lookdown Checkpoint, Hydro Majestic Checkpoint and back to KCC Oval. These buses will need to be booked and will operate on a continuous basis whilst the checkpoints are open.
There are also public bus services to get to Govetts Leap and Medlow Bath (near Hydro Majestic), and train services between Katoomba and Medlow Bath, where it is a short walk over the new pedestrian overbridge to Hydro Majestic.
The Spectator bus options will include
- A ticket from Katoomba or Leura to the Miler Start and return - this will be suitable if you only want to go to the start and don't want to go to the early Miler checkpoints.
- A day pass covering the Start line bus above, and transport to Govetts Leap, Perrys Lookdown, and Hydro Majestic. Noting that there is no parking available at the Start or Perrys Lookdown.
If you would prefer to drive you could skip the start and Perrys Lookdown, and instead go to the Govetts Leap and Hydro Majestic Checkpoints. You can park on the street approx 900m from Govetts Leap Lookout. Please do not park on the final stretch of road leading into and out of Govetts Leap Lookout. This will block access for buses to drive past, and will jeopardise our chances of being able to use this checkpoint in future.
Parking is also available near to the Hydro Majestic Pavilion, or across the railway line on Railway Parade, Medlow Bath or surrounding streets. Please ensure you do not block access for residents or other vehicles to pass.
**UTA22 Free bus to Start Line at Queen Victoria Hospital, Wentworth Falls **
Runners will be sent an email on Fri 2nd May to choose your bus pick up location, and depending on your start group you may also be able to select your bus time (times subject to availability).
Final UTA22 bus information will be forwarded to you in a dedicated email by Fri 2nd May
Unfortunately we are unable to have spectators at Queen Victoria Hospital for the UTA22 race. Please note that the nearest drop off point is 2.7km from the start line, at the corner of Hordern Rd and Coronation St. Please walk to the end of Coronation Rd and then follow the trail through to QVH. Please do not walk on the road as there are a number of buses and it is dangerous. The easiest option for runners is to catch the bus.
Some key points to note :
- Arrival times are approximate times only.
- Please arrive at your selected departure at least 10mins prior to departure.
- E-tickets will be issued as your bus ticket; please have these ready to present upon boarding the bus.
- Buses will be rolling throughout the morning, and some stops may see a slight delay.
- Your race time will only start when you cross the starting mat - so, if your bus is delayed, or you miss your start group there is no issue, just jump in with the next start group or wave.
