TERMS & CONDITIONS
See the 2027 terms & conditions below
Completing a UTA Miler is a physically and mentally challenging event, and participation in it requires significant training and preparation. For your health and safety, we require evidence of your ability to take part by meeting this qualification criteria below:
•A 50km or longer run result (Official ONLY) between 28 March 2025 and 28 March 2027 must be uploaded into your event registration either during the initial registration or at a later date (no later than 11:59pm (AEST) 28 March 2027) via your Participant Dashboard.
•Official Result (e.g. timed race): a photo of your completion of an official trail race, 50km or longer. You must be an official finisher and complete the course within advertised cut off time. This means, for example, you cannot submit a result showing you made it 55km into a 100km race.
•Backyard Ultra results will be accepted where the athlete has completed more than 50km, equivalent to 8 yards or more, and is supported by official results.
•Race management reserves the right to reject any result deemed not meeting the above criteria.
You will only be contacted should your result (official ONLY) not meet the above criteria. You will be provided an opportunity to re-submit your result prior to the cutoff date of 11:59pm (AEST) 28 March 2027. In the event you do not meet the criteria by the cutoff date, you will be notified and automatically moved into the UTA 100. Standard athlete withdrawal options apply prior to the 28 March 2027.
There is no pre-requisite of competing or finishing any trail running event to participate in the UTA100. However, participating in UTMB World Series events, trail running events and half/marathon distance road running events will assist with your start group seeding.
All participants of the UTA100 should be experienced in trail running, including sufficiently skilled and trained to undertake a trail run event. The course is tough, demanding and is remote in sections that can result in slower first aid / rescue response times. It is a combination of fire trail, narrow walking tracks, some very steep sections on staircases, ladders, river/creek crossings, dirt, on rock and sections that are rough under foot.
It is the participants responsibility to ensure you are physically fit enough to complete the distance you have entered and monitor your health and condition during the event, including knowing when to withdraw from the event if you are no longer fit enough to continue.

Other than as provided for in the Athlete Withdrawal program set out above or the Enter with Confidence deferral options below, no further remedies will be provided for change of mind, change of personal circumstances, or injury.
Athletes can request to transfer their entry to a lesser or greater race distance up until such time as that race distance is sold out, subject to the following terms:
- To request a transfer from one race distance to another, athletes must log into their Participant Dashboard and follow the necessary steps before 5:00pm (AEDT) on 13 May 2027.
- Transferring to a greater distance: Where an athlete requests to transfer to a greater distance and space is available, the athlete is required to pay the difference in entry fees between the two distances.
- Transferring to a shorter distance: Where an athlete requests to transfer to a shorter distance and space is available, the difference in entry fees will not be refunded.
Athletes can transfer their race entry to a friend subject to the following terms:
- Transfer request is submitted via original athlete’s Participant Dashboard before 5:00pm (AEST), 13 May 2027.
- The transferred registration must be for the same distance.
- The transfer is complete when the receiving athlete registers and pays (at the current advertised price on the Event website) using the transfer registration link.
- A full refund of the entry fee will be processed, less a $55 transfer fee, once the new transferred registration is completed.
- Additional purchases and merchandise cannot be transferred to another athlete. The above Additional Purchase and Merchandise terms will apply.
As stated in the Athlete Terms of Entry and Participation, under no circumstance are you permitted to give your bib to another person. The safety of our athletes is paramount; therefore, we need to ensure we have correct details of all our athletes on course.
UTMB have released the UTMB World Series Path to Parenthood, which applies to this event.
The full UTMB World Series Path to Parenthood is available. A summary of this policy is included below for guidance. The full policy will apply to the extent of any inconsistency.
Eligible athletes (as outlined below) are able to request a full refund OR defer their entry for up to 2 years to the same race and distance as originally entered.
| ELIGIBLE ATHLETE | MINIMUM DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED |
|---|---|
| Pregnant Athlete | a dated doctor’s note confirming the pregnancy. |
| Athletes pursuing Medically Assisted Reproduction (MAR) | a dated doctor’s note or note from a fertility clinic confirming that the Athlete is undergoing medically assisted reproduction (MAR). No medical diagnosis or treatment details are required. For sake of clarity, MAR includes in vitro fertilization (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection, intrauterine insemination (IUI), egg retrieval, embryo transfer (fresh or frozen), donor cycles, ovulation-induction treatment, and medically indicated egg freezing. |
| Athletes with a pregnant partner with a due date within three months before or after the race | a dated doctor’s note confirming the pregnancy and proof of relationship if available (eg. marriage certificate, civil union documentation etc). |
| Athletes adopting a child or birthing via surrogacy | adoption or birth certificate dated within six months before the race. |
Note: no particular outcome of the pregnancy or MAR is required; miscarriages and failed cycles remain covered, and do not need to be disclosed. Recognizing that one’s individual Path to Parenthood may be unpredictable, athletes may benefit from the policy if they meet the eligibility requirements at any point from the registration period up until race day. Athletes may be pregnant, already undergoing MAR, or in the process of adopting or welcoming a child through surrogacy at the time of registration, and they will still be entitled to a deferral or refund before race day if they choose to take advantage of those options.
Policy Options
- A full refund of the registration fee (excluding service fees and additional purchases such as donations, photos, or accommodation & if the request is made at the latest, the date of the race). OR
- Deferral up to 2 years to the same race category or shorter.
Repeated Deferrals: Athletes can repeat the deferral process for an additional deferral if they meet the Paths to Parenthood eligibility again during the deferral period. For instance, if an athlete defers a race due to MAR and then becomes pregnant during that period, they can then shift onto the pregnancy part of the policy without losing their place.
Additional Requirements for Using a Deferred Entry Spot
- Request Deadlines: All requests made prior to the opening of registrations will be accepted. Requests made after registration is open cannot be guaranteed and are based on availability. No requests will be accepted after registrations for the event are closed.
- UTMB Index: For events requiring a valid UTMB Index, runners should ensure it is valid at the time of registering for the deferred race.
- Verification: The organizer may reasonably request additional proof if required, respecting the privacy and confidential nature of the Athlete’s personal situation, and deny requests at their discretion.
No deferral option available.
The safety of all athletes on course is our priority. Our event team considers each race/event individually to determine the entry requirements. Due to course conditions, Ultra-Trail Australia by UTMB is not suitable to be completed using wheelchairs or with prams across all distances. While this race is not suitable, our goal is to make everyone's racing dreams a reality so if you would like information on other events where the course is able to accommodate wheelchair participation or any other course accessibility needs, please email us at ultratrailaustralia@service.byutmb.world.
As part of UTMB's ongoing efforts to increase and encourage the participation of athletes with disabilities in trail running races, UTMB has implemented a new policy for all UTMB World Series events. Participants need to apply to UTMB to be approved prior to entering the Adaptive Athlete Open Division of Ultra-Trail Australia by UTMB. Please visit the UTMB website for further information and the process for Adaptive Athletes: Inclusion & Diversity (utmb.world).
Once approved by UTMB, you can register for Ultra-Trail Australia by UTMB in the Adaptive Athlete Open Division. Please contact us directly at ultratrailaustralia@service.byutmb.world after completing your entry.
Please Note: Due to course conditions, Ultra-Trail Australia by UTMB is not suitable to be completed using wheelchairs.
RACE RULES
To the extent of any inconsistency between the UTA Race Rules and the UTMB World Series Race Regulations, the UTA Race Rules will prevail. These UTMB World Series Race Regulations apply to the extent permissible under the laws of Australia.
