Mandatory Gear

Mandatory gear lists for UTA100, UTA50, UTA22 & UTA11

The mandatory gear list contains what we believe is the absolute minimum to keep you safe during the event and in the Blue Mountain’s unpredictable weather systems. If you would normally take something extra on a run of this duration, you should still take it.

MANDATORY GEAR LISTS

The course passes through remote trails, where protection from the elements and medical/support services could be some time/distance from athletes needing assistance. It is therefore imperative that the mandatory gear is carried at all times.

In order to reduce waste, we are a cupless event. Athletes are strongly advised to carry their own drinking cup, bottle or hydration vest that they can use at aid stations for the selection of drinks. We recommend you also carry water between checkpoints.

MANDATORY GEAR CHECK FOR UTA100 & UTAMiler

Mandatory Gear Checks All runners in the UTA100 and UTAMiler events must complete a Mandatory Gear Check before collecting their race pack at Race Check-In. There are two ways to complete your gear check:

Option 1: Early Gear Check at a Partner Store (Recommended) - Complete your gear check before race weekend at one of our approved Gear Check Partner Stores located across NSW, ACT, VIC, QLD, SA, WA and TAS (available until 12 May). Map is of approved gear check partner stores in attached below.

This is the quickest and easiest option and will help you avoid delays at Race Check-In.

Option 2: Gear Check at Race Check-In - Bring all of your mandatory gear to Race Check-In and have it inspected immediately before collecting your race pack.

Please note that this option may significantly increase your check-in time, particularly during busy periods.

Important Information

  • If you do not pass your gear check, you will need to obtain the missing or non-compliant item before your race pack can be issued.
  • If you complete an early gear check but forget your Gear Check Certificate, our team can verify your approval in the database and issue a replacement certificate at Race Check-In.
  • Mandatory gear must be carried for the entire duration of the race.

No mandatory gear = No start.

Athletes should be prepared for random gear checks throughout the event. If a mandatory item is missing during the race, you will not be permitted to continue until the item is replaced and a time penalty may be applied.

*Please note - NZ stores do not check for Australian Events (HOKA Ultra-Trail Australia by UTMB & Ultra-Trail Kosciuszko by UTMB).
