UTA11 is a great introduction to Ultra-Trail Australia by UTMB and trail running. The course traverses some of most stunning tracks of the Blue Mountains and while you encounter the odd lump along the way, it is very achievable for all abilities.
You'll start at Scenic World. The route takes you out Cliff Drive and along Glenraphael Drive to the turnaround point on Narrow Neck.
Return to Golden Stairs, then down Golden Stairs along Federal Pass through Landslide to the base of Furber Steps.
To get the real taste of UTA, you'll get to take on all of the 951 Furber Steps up to the finish back at Scenic World.
*2023 courses above, note courses will change for 2024. Maps subject to change. Select the Time Charts tabs to view the cut-off times for leaving the relevant checkpoint. If you miss the cut-off then you must follow the directions of officials. Please note that in bad weather conditions, cut-offs may need to be brought forward during the event.
KEY INFO FOR UTA11 RUNNERS
All the information you need to know before starting an extraordinary adventure.
A Finish Line Drop Bag service will be available which allows you to have your own personal supplies (change of clothes, shoes, shorts, post race nutrition, etc.) at the finish line. Finish line drop bags can be left in the designated Drop Bag area at CMS near the start line at Scenic World on Saturday morning.
Read the rules on drop bags
Every runner at UTA will have to carry mandatory gear. The mandatory gear list contains what we believe is the absolute minimum to keep you safe during the event and in the Blue Mountain’s unpredictable weather systems.

To help congestion on the course and ensure an enjoyable and safe race for everyone, we have a tried-and-tested start group process to match-up runners of similar abilities. Find out more about the start group request process, seeding options and start group times.

TRAINING ON COURSE
A large portion of the UTA courses are publically accessible throughout the year, offering the opportunity to train on course prior to raceday. Please take care and give way to members of the general public when training on course. Some sections of the course are on private land, so please read about these before heading out.
